We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with mine:

MOSIAC ART (SNAKE)
We have been learning about using apps on our Chromebook to create images that look like mosaics or stained glass windows. We used Google Draw to make some and some people also used Sumopaint. Here is the image I made using Sumopaint/Google Draw. I chose a Snake because I like Snakes and they are amazing creatures.

Another thing we have been learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different combinations as we could.
Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table. But not the kind of table you eat off-a mathematical table.

My Metamorphosis story
Yet another thing we did for writing this week was to imagine that we had undergone metamorphosis.
We had to pretend we had woken up one morning and discovered we had changed. It would be like going to sleep as a caterpillar and waking up as a butterfly. We had to write about what our new body was like and what we could do. I chose to : write about me to Metamorphosis into an evil giant scorpion.

The evil scorpion human.
One thundery day I was doing an experiment in my lab with a scorpion cause I am a scientist. I put the wrong thing in it by accident and it blew up. I got blasted all the way across the lab and was knocked unconscious. A few hours later I woke up feeling weird. As I walked into the bathroom I caught sight of myself in the mirror. I was a horrifying sight! I was part scorpion and part human. I thought about it for a second and said to myself, ” Hey, this is really cool because now I can paralyze people with my scorpion tail and I couldn't do that before!”.
I went to try it on my worst enemy Jada, another scientist who had been trying to destroy my science lab for three years. I paralyzed her with my poisonous tail and I was so happy as I locked her in her basement.
The next day I went to the mayor of my town and paralyzed him too and locked him in his basement along with all of his guards who had tried to fight me. Then on the town speaker I proclaimed, “I am the new mayor of this town and whoever disobeys me will be locked up in my basement. Whoever tries to leave will be locked up too unless you leave in the next 24 hours!”
7 years later…
I wanted more space in my basement because it was too small so I hired some builders to build me another basement. They built me a nice, big one. I was so happy about it that I let them move away to another town only if they told no one about this town. They agreed quickly.
I loved ruling the town but I still wanted more so I got builders to build me my very own tower. Year after year though, I got more and more lonely so I ordered some new scorpions. In one week, they had arrived at my house in jars and I started eating them. I thought they were so yummy.
The next day, I was bored so I put 30 of them in the basement with the people that had disobeyed me. Then I sat back and listened. In no time at all I heard loud screaming. I laughed evilly. “ I am the most evilest scorpion person ever to walk this Earth!” I said to myself.

Letter for Mrs C Week
In Week 8, Term 2 our school librarian, Mrs C, retired. On her last day, we put on a Book Character Parade. We dressed up in costumes like book characters and then we went on a parade through the Daycare Centre next to the school, past the shops in the village, along Hobson St and back up Tennyson St to the school.

Chocolate
This writing task was about a language experience. Our teachers brought different kinds of chocolate to school and we got to eat it! We tried white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and pink chocolate. We could write about it in any way we liked but our teachers hoped we would use lots of describing language and our senses.
Chocolate
Firstly out of all the chocolate I chose the dark chocolate cause it's my favorite
chocolate of all.The chocolate looks as dark as the night sky.The dark chocolate
tastes like a delicious brownie. The dark chocolate smells like a really rich chocolate.
The dark chocolate felt as if it were going to melt in my fingers.
Secondly I ate the white chocolate. The white chocolate is my second favorite
chocolate. The white chocolate looked like a snowy milk.
The white chocolate tasted like vanilla flavored milk. The white chocolate
felt like a small hard rock.
Finally I ate the ordinary chocolate that everyone has probably tasted before.
The ordinary chocolate is my last favorite. The normal chocolate looks like pure
dirt. The normal chocolate tasted like melting deelishis chocolate.
